TeachUNITED → Tanzania

Karatu & Monduli, Tanzania

Increasing pass rates on the high-stakes national exam mean more opportunities for kids.

TeachUNITED partners with schools in Northern Tanzania’s Arusha Region. Our partner schools typically serve between 350-800 students in this multi-ethnic savannah area on the edge of the Serengeti National Park. TU partner schools are eager to leverage technology in order to manage up to 95 children in a single classroom, and help students advance beyond rote learning.

TU’s partner schools in Tanzania operate in rural areas where many students, and teachers, have to walk more than an hour each day to attend school. We connect these courageous educators to the right resources by providing on-site teacher trainers and off-the-grid mobile technology. The goal of the TU Tanzania education program is to equip teachers with the skills to help their students pass the Form IV exam, which determines whether they will continue with their secondary studies. TeachUNITED helps partner schools increase Form IV pass rates while also boosting student engagement, personalized learning, and teacher professional development.

“TeachUNITED is good for teachers and students. To succeed we school leaders, need to work closely with our TU trainers, champion teachers, and students.”
