Bruce is Managing Director of Investure LLC, a leader in the endowment and foundation investment management industry. Investure’s clients include Carnegie Endowment, Smith College and Middlebury College. Bruce and his wife Sue live with their three sons (Max, Charlie and Calvin) in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Jim spent 17 years in the commodity business working for Cargill Investor Services, specializing in Financial Futures to global institutional customers on The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade. Since leaving the commodity business he attended culinary school and started a catering and personal chef business. He also serves on the Mesa Verde and Vail Jazz Foundation Boards and served on the Board of Trustees of the Fountain Valley School of Colorado. He lives in Edwards, Colorado.

Sam is Founder and President of SOS Private Insurance Agency, based in Dallas, Texas. SOS Private Insurance agency specializes in commercial and residential insurance for the past 12 years. Prior to founding SOS, Sam was Chief Operating Officer of Picket Industries, a LA based service company with 365 employees and operations in 4 States. Sam and his wife Susan live in Dallas with their two kids, Christine and Lee Gregory.

After seventeen years as a national insurance broker, program administrator and sales trainer, Tom and Tina founded SIAA MidAmerica, Inc. in 1997. The company is an affiliate of SIAA, Inc. SIAA MidAmerica is a retail insurance broker with 2,000 offices producing over $2 Billion in annual sales in the Southeast and Midwest. Nationally SIAA has over 6,000 retail offices, produces $6.5 Billion in annual sales and is growing by over 400 offices and $1 Billion in sales annually. Tom serves as President & CEO, and Tina as CFO of SIAA MidAmerica. Tom & Tina reside in the western North Carolina resort town of Blowing Rock. They have three children and eleven Grandchildren. Hobbies include collecting wine, cooking, motorcycling, fly fishing, and international travel. Philanthropic interests include two adopted children in Nairobi, Kenya; the co-funding of a VVF Clinic for women in Togo, Africa; The Heifer Project; the Watauga County NC Humane Society; Western Youth Network (Advisory Board); Toys for Santa’s Toy Box, and various Episcopal Church related projects.

Brad has been an early stage investor and entrepreneur since 1987. Prior to co-founding Foundry Group, he co-founded Mobius Venture Capital and, prior to that, founded Intensity Ventures. Brad is also a co-founder of Techstars.

In addition to his investing efforts, Brad has been active with several non-profit organizations. He currently is chair of the National Center for Women & Information Technology and on the boards of Path Forward, the Kauffman Fellows, and Defy Ventures.

Brad is a writer and speaker on the topics of venture capital investing and entrepreneurship. He’s written a number of books as part of the Startup Revolution series and writes the blogs Feld Thoughts and Venture Deals.

Brad holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Brad is also an art collector and long-distance runner. He has completed 24 marathons as part of his mission to finish a marathon in each of the 50 states.

Dave Burke is the Chief Executive Officer and a Managing Director of Makena Capital Management, an investment management firm with approximately $20 billion of assets under management. A founder of the firm, Dave is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, and the Management and Investment Committees and is responsible for overseeing Makena’s investment and operational activities. Previous to being named Chief Executive Officer in January 2014, Dave headed Makena’s private equity activities. Prior to forming Makena in 2005, Dave was a Managing Director of the Stanford Management Company, overseeing the Stanford University endowment’s investments in private equity and venture capital. Prior to joining the Stanford Management Company, he ran the private equity investment program for The Investment Fund for Foundations. During the 1990s, Dave was an international capital markets lawyer in London and Paris with Linklaters, and practiced law with Bingham McCutchen in San Francisco. Dave currently serves on the advisory and corporate boards of over a dozen private equity, venture capital, and direct investments in the US and abroad. Dave serves on the Boards of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), Stanford University Athletics, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is a Trustee of the University of Virginia Law School Foundation and Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton. Dave received a BS in Finance, Juris Doctor, and an MA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. He is a guest lecturer on investment management topics at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Andrew Hall Cummins, also known as Andy, is the Founder of Explorador Capital Management, LLC, Explorador.net and The Explorador Fund, L.P. and serves as their Chief Investment Officer, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer and is their Managing Partner. Mr. Cummins formed Explorador in 1996 and has since been focused on equity investments in Latin America. From 1992 to 1995, he worked at the predecessor to Ashmore EMM. Mr. Cummins serves as a Limited Partner of Cadence Capital Partners. He served as a Fund Advisor of Naya Ventures. Prior to that, Mr. Cummins was employed at Emerging Markets Management. He was also employed in the acquisitions group at JMB Realty Corporation, where his deal experience contained over 13 corporate and real estate acquisitions and financings ranging in size from $14 million to $1 billion. Mr. Cummins served as a Director of Viver Incorporadora e Construtora SA since April 2009. From 1988 to 1990, he worked for JMB Realty Corporation as an associate focused on real estate private equity. He serves as a Director of 523 Capital, LLC, PazCorp and Farmacias Remedios, as well as a Member of the Investment Committee of Paladin Latin America Realty Partners. Mr. Cummins is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the World Affair Council of San Francisco and is on the Business Advisory Network at Nesst.org. He has guest lectured on corporate strategy at the Universidad Catolica in Santiago and on international investing at the Universidad de Chile. Mr. Cummins was selected as a National Finalist for the White House Fellowship program in 1994. At UC Berkeley, he was awarded a Nikko Securities Fellowship to Tokyo, Japan, and founded the local chapter of the Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs. Mr. Cummins holds an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School with a focus on Corporate Strategy and Finance and a Bachelors of Science degree from The Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.

Ian is an Operating Partner at Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, a
growth oriented private equity firm. Prior to his current position,
he led the software investment banking efforts at Qatalyst Partners
and Goldman Sachs. Ian is also a national board member for Summer
Search, a youth development non-profit organization working with
low-income high school students in seven cities across the country to
help them develop the skills and confidence they need to become
successful college-educated leaders.

Paige has combined her love of education and the environment, and she is
currently an environmental educator with the Point Bonita YMCA serving
underprivileged youth from public schools across the Bay Area in the
beautiful and historic Marin Headlands. She also spends time as a
volunteer program leader with the Romberg-Tiburon Bay Shore Studies
Program teaching Bay Area youth about the critical importance of the
San Francisco Bay’s diverse environment. Her prior experience
includes working as a teacher in both public and independent school
systems in Florida and North Carolina after her graduation from the
University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education.

Paige and Ian live in Tiburon, CA and have two children in college,
Madison and Stephen.

Julian Farrior is the founder and CEO of Backflip Studios, a Boulder Colorado based mobile game company focused on bringing innovative and thoughtful titles to an expanding group of casual gamers. Backflip has had numerous top ranked apps and seen more than 300,000,000 downloads in their first five years of operation. Their games, which include popular titles such as DragonVale, Paper Toss, NinJump, Ragdoll Blaster, Army of Darkness: Defense, and SpellFall are played by tens of millions of users every month. In 2009 Paper Toss was the most downloaded game of the year and in 2012 DragonVale was the top grossing iPad game of the year. In 2013 Hasbro acquired a majority stake in Backflip Studios.

Prior to Backflip, Julian served as a VP and angel investor at Earthscape, a company that also had early success in the app store. Previously, Julian spent seven years at Yahoo! in various management roles the most recent of which included heading up emerging markets search. He is also an investor and advisor in several early stage tech startups including “TapToLearn”, “Pepper Data” and “BabyBytes”.

In 2011, Julian won the Esprit Entrepreneur of Distinction award from the Boulder Chamber of Commerce. In 2012 Backflip was chosen as a Colorado Company to watch, the same year that their game “DragonVale” was nominated for Best New Game of the Year and Best Game Design of the Year by industry peers at GDC Online. In 2013 Backflip won the ACG Emerging Growth Company Award. Julian was awarded Colgate University’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014 and Backflip has had three games so far this year selected by Apple as an “Editors Choice”.

Julian serves on Colgate University’s West Coast Advisory Council, Silicon Flatirons E.I. board and was named this year to the Mobile Game Developer’s Hall of Fame. He is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, such as the Game Developers Conference (GDC), Gamesbeat and DICE. Julian is a lifelong video and board gamer with an obsessive streak for pinball. He studied at Colgate University and Northwestern University.

Gregg has been in the homebuilding, development, and real estate investment businesses since 1991 when he left the management consulting firm of Bain & Company to join The Ryland Group. During his ten years of service to Morrison Homes (the US operation of Britain’s largest homebuilder, George Wimpey, PLC – now Taylor Morrison) from 1994 to 2004, he served in several leadership roles.

Gregg started K2 Ventures, LLC in 2005. K2 identified, entitled, purchased and developed residential communities for regional builders as well as housing giants Beazer Homes and the Ryland Group. In 2007, K2 formed a strategic development partnership with Jim Chapman Communities to purchase, develop, and construct active adult communities in the Southeast. This team developed 328 lots and constructed over 200 active adult homes. Additionally, during the great recession, this group built or completed 150 additional homes for commercial banks and opportunistic investors with total fee billings of over $5 million. Price ranges of the homes on which this team has worked range from the very low $100s to over $1 million in communities from Villa Rica to Lake Oconee.

Gregg started Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods (Acadia) in 2010. As “A New Builder for a New Time,” Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods’ strategy was to restore viability to the Atlanta new home neighborhoods that bore the impact of the housing market’s collapse in 2008 and 2009. Acadia started operations in 2010 and in 2013 was recognized as Atlanta’s 5th fastest growing privately held company and its 10th largest homebuilder. In 2016 Gregg sold Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods to Taylor Morrison for $85 million.

Gregg currently serves as Vice Chairman and partner of The Ardent Companies (Ardent). Ardent is a private real estate investment company specializing in opportunistic real estate investments. Ardent’s primary investment strategies include specialty/transitional lending and selective/opportunistic equity investing. Since its founding, the firm has invested in more than 100 individual transactions in 22 states totaling more than $1.1 billion in aggregate capital.

Gregg is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and holds a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He sits on the McIntire School’s Advisory Board and is a Board member of the Jekyll Brewing Company. Gregg is active in the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is the past Chairman of the Major Gifts Committee at the Lovett School. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children.
